Big Schools’ Birdwatch 2024

Together, we made it count.

This term the children took part in the Big Schools’ Birdwatch where they learned to identify different types of birds and gather information.

Here is what some of them had to say;

“It was fun because we got to see lots of different types of birds.” Layla P2

“It was peaceful because we were there before the P1’s.” Hannah P5

“I loved the Birdwatch. It was fun watching them because they were really beautiful and graceful.” Lucille P5

“I enjoyed seeing all of the birds.” Harrison P1

Ms. Helen filled all the bird feeders and the birds came. The day after, we made pancakes and I saw birds that I knew the names of.” Autumn P2

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Article 1 (definition of the child) Everyone under the age of 18 has all the rights in the Convention.

Article 28 (right to education) Every child has the right to an education. Primary education must be free and different forms of secondary education must be available to every child. Discipline in schools must respect children’s dignity and their rights. Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this.
