Our Christmas Community Cafe

Report written by Callum and Lucy

On Friday the 22nd of November 2019 we had a Christmas Community Cafe. In preparation for the cafe we made lots of crafts to sell. We had tags, gift boxes, Christmas  cards and hanging decorations.

On the day we had stalls for people to take part in to guess the name of the teddy, find gin and whisky in Lochdon Bay and buy tickets for hampers and raffle.

There was lots of tea and cake for everyone, the community really enjoyed themselves.

We would like to say thank you to everyone for their kind donations and generosity with our sales we managed to raise £245.75 for our school funds.

UN Conventions on the Rights of a Child

Article 12 (respect for the views of the child)

Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously.

Article 13 (freedom of expression)

Every child must be free to express their thoughts and opinions and to access all kinds of informations as long as it is within the law.

(We were given choices for our roles and ideas about the cafe)

Article 15 (freedom of association)

Every child has the right to meet other children and to join groups and organisations, as long as this does not stop other people from enjoying their rights.

(We get to meet a wide range of new people in a safe environment)

Article 29 (goals of education)

Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full.

(We learnt a new range of skills through organising the cafe and being able to create all the crafts.)
