Tag Rugby Information from Babs Whyte

Letter from Babs will go home with pupils today.  Information regarding the Tag Rugby programme for 18-19

We are delighted to get our Tag Rugby Programme underway for 2018-19. Our Tag Programme has run for the past 12 years, involving a great number of our youngsters, many who have gone on to play rugby at different levels. Tag Rugby is very inclusive, offered to all children from P1 – P7. The game in itself promotes and develops all rugby skills apart from ‘contact’. Our Mini, Youth, Senior coaches and Rugby Development Officer all endorse the Tag Rugby Programme for developing and sharpening the required skills for Rugby.

The Tag Rugby Programme was set up as a three way partnership with Active Schools, Isle of Mull RFC and all of Mull & Iona Primary Schools.

Through the Tag Rugby programme we strive to offer rugby sessions and festivals developing our youngster’s skills in the game of rugby, as young athletes across all sports, sportsmanship awareness and core rugby values such as respect and teamwork, while forging new and long lasting friendships and relationships through the programme. It’s also another fabulous opportunity for the Mull & Iona Primary School youngsters to come together.

Presently we have clubs running at Bunessan PS, Salen PS and Dervaig PS. If you can help with the existing clubs or would be willing to help get a club started for your school, please get in touch with me. I will share with all partners including our Rugby DO Allan Wright who has been working tirelessly with us to promote and develop rugby on Mull & Iona. You will be provided with the support needed to get you going and to help continue involvement in this fabulous, fun programme!

Yours in Sport,

Babs Whyte
